A 106-year-old Ukrainian man, Petro Motorniy, born in the village of Kapustyne in Cherkasy region, has shared his experiences. He recalled that during the 1940s, while working in Russia, Russians harbored animosity towards Ukrainians, referring to them as "khokhly" and showing disrespect. Motorniy survived the Holodomor of 1932-33, during which he lost his younger brother to starvation.

Motorniy became one of the first residents of Vilne Zaporizhzhia in Mykolaiv region. In 2022, his house was destroyed by a missile strike on the Mykolaiv Regional State Administration building. In 2024, at the age of 104, he obtained a foreign passport and moved to Ireland, becoming the country's oldest man.
