Aviation expert explains why Russian drones hit targets in Ukraine
Monday, September 28, 2026 at 06:51 PM
According to aviation expert Anatoliy Khrapchynskyi, Russian strike drones are accurately hitting targets in Ukraine due to their speed and a high-quality communication link provided from Belarus. Khrapchynskyi explained that repeaters placed at border guard units in Belarus enable drones to maintain a quality connection over Ukrainian territory.
Khrapchynskyi stated that the range of such a repeater covers a 140 km perimeter. He elaborated that if a communication antenna is located near the Chernobyl zone in Belarus, the direct radio horizon over the Kyiv Reservoir allows for a 140 km coverage, encompassing the entire territory of Kyiv. This, he suggested, explains why the drones operate so freely in Ukraine's airspace.
