Bangladeshi citizens reportedly killed fighting for Russian army in Ukraine

Wednesday, October 14, 2026 at 08:35 PM

Twenty citizens of Bangladesh have been killed in Ukraine while fighting for the Russian army, according to a report. Bangladeshi authorities suspect that individuals were lured there under false pretenses. On October 14, at a press conference in Dhaka, the commander of the Special Response Battalion of the Bangladesh Police, Mohammad Asaduzzaman, stated that his unit is investigating the disappearance of 30 Bangladeshis who were transferred to Russia on May 7.

Police suspect Russian forces used the Bangladeshis as "bait," deliberately exposing them to drone strikes to locate the operators. The individuals reportedly had no prior military service and received only three weeks of training before being deployed to the front lines.
