Belgorod residents live with broken windows two months after drone attack

Wednesday, October 14, 2026 at 11:55 AM

Residents of a building in Belgorod damaged by a drone attack two months ago are still living with broken windows, as authorities have not yet restored the facade of the multi-story building on Chumichova Street. Local media, citing the head of the "New People" party's local branch, Alexander Kharybin, reported that residents are repairing the damage themselves despite promises from officials. Kharybin stated that while some windows have been replaced, it was done by residents at their own expense due to the cold.

The delay in repairs was attributed by Anton Bersenev, head of the construction and architecture department, to a shift in funding from an extrabudgetary fund to the federal budget. He assured that a new plan has been developed to expedite the process. Residents have resorted to covering windows with plastic film, and one resident reportedly called an ambulance due to pneumonia in a windowless apartment. The temperature in Belgorod is currently around +14°C during the day and +9°C at night, with rain, and is forecast to drop to +3°C next week.
