Three tankers carrying Iranian oil are reportedly heading towards the United States after being seized by American forces, according to Bloomberg. Two of the vessels, Tifani and Majestic X, are weeks away from the U.S. coast after American troops boarded them in the Indian Ocean in April. The third tanker, Lenore, is also reportedly sailing west towards the Atlantic.

The U.S. Department of Justice has begun the process of confiscating three vessels and approximately 4 million barrels of Iranian oil. The U.S. Attorney's Office in Washington confirmed cases have been opened against all three tankers, but declined to provide operational details or future plans. The tankers are currently traveling at 8-9 knots, slower than the usual 12-13 knots, with the oil valued at nearly $600 million. This potential arrival marks the first U.S. receipt of Iranian oil following similar confiscations in 2023.
