Journalists for the publication cited sources indicating that damage to these cables could impact the international financial system. The reports suggest Russia has mapped these cables, which are also used by the international banking system, and that potential targets include transatlantic connections as well as cables in the Baltic Sea and between the UK and continental Europe.
