Dmitry Kisiev detained in Serbia near Russian Embassy

Sunday, September 20, 2026 at 09:01 AM

Dmitry Kisiev, a political technologist and former head of Boris Nadezhdin's campaign, reported his detention by Serbian police near the Russian Embassy. Kisiev, a native of Crimea, stated on his Telegram channel, "Well, the Serbian police detained me near the Russian Federation's embassy. Fun."

The reasons for the detention and Kisiev's current status are unknown. Russian authorities had previously revoked his citizenship, which he obtained in 2014 during the annexation of Crimea. In July 2025, the FSB stated his actions negatively impacted political and social stability and posed a threat to national security. In October 2025, Kisiev received a notice to leave Russia within three days.
