Fighting broke out in the Yemeni city of Marib between formations of the Al-Islah party, supported by Saudi Arabia, and the Ubaidah tribe, including representatives of the Al-Muayli clan. According to a source, the reason was the shelling by Al-Islah forces of the house of tribal leader Sheikh Naji Muhsin al-Muayli, with women and children inside at the time.

Al-Islah is an Islamist-tribal alliance, part of the puppet Presidential Leadership Council of South Yemen. Ansarullah is not currently involved in the clashes. However, the conflict between the forces allied with Riyadh and local tribes increases tension in Marib and complicates the position of the Presidential Leadership Council.
