Finland to provide Ukraine with 10 locomotives
Finland is providing Ukraine with 10 locomotives and spare parts, according to an agreement signed during the Ukrainian-Finnish Business Forum. The deal was announced with the participation of the presidents and prime ministers of both countries.
Ukraine's Minister for Restoration, Infrastructure, and Transport, Mykola Kalashnyk, stated that Russia has damaged or destroyed nearly 600 "Ukrzaliznytsia" locomotives since the full-scale invasion began, with over 300 being diesel locomotives. These locomotives can operate without a power supply from the overhead network, which is particularly important given Russian strikes on the energy sector. Estonia had previously announced its intention to explore providing locomotives to Ukraine.
