Finnish airline Finnair is launching a new route between Helsinki and Melbourne, with flights expected to last approximately 24 hours, according to Simple Flying. The airline will avoid Russian airspace, which is closed to carriers from 'unfriendly' countries.

The new daily flights are scheduled to begin on October 25. The route from Finland to Australia will include a stopover in Bangkok, Thailand.
