A 50-year-old Finnish national from Helsinki, who volunteered to fight for Ukraine after Russia's full-scale invasion, was reportedly detained in Burkina Faso and subsequently handed over to Russia. He is currently imprisoned in Samara, according to Finnish publication Helsingin Sanomat.

The man, identified by journalists as Mikael, reportedly traveled to Ukraine shortly after the full-scale war began. He served in a Ukrainian army unit and later assisted with communication between foreign volunteers and Ukrainian military personnel due to his fluency in Finnish and Russian.
