Five Russians suspected of executing Ukrainian POWs in Vovchansk

Friday, October 16, 2026 at 02:09 PM

Five Russian individuals have been notified of suspicion for allegedly executing Ukrainian prisoners of war in Vovchansk. Previously, one participant in the crime, Russian citizen Serhiy Tuzhilov, received a life sentence for killing one Ukrainian soldier and helping organize the execution of two others.

The suspects are documented to have committed crimes against five more of their accomplices. All of them served in the 82nd Motor Rifle Regiment of the 69th Motor Rifle Division of the Russian Federation. They shot a Ukrainian prisoner of war in June 2024 on the territory of a temporarily occupied factory. Two weeks later, they killed two more Ukrainian defenders.
