FlyDubai Co-Pilot Allegedly Planned Attack on Ben Gurion Airport

Wednesday, October 7, 2026 at 08:47 PM

A FlyDubai co-pilot, Hamam al-Hammami, reportedly planned to crash Flight 1073 near Tel Aviv last week, according to investigators. The Omani national allegedly sought employment with airlines flying to Israel with the intent to incapacitate the captain and crash into a target like Ben Gurion Airport.

Hammami had previously been barred from flying by Oman Air over extremist concerns, but FlyDubai hired him without checking with Omani authorities, according to the WSJ.
