The Boeing 737 issued a distress signal and code 7500, typically used for hijacking situations, prompting Israel to scramble fighter jets. The aircraft landed safely in Saudi Arabia with approximately 100 passengers.

According to Israeli media, the aircraft's commander is of Russian origin, while the co-pilot is Ukrainian. Flydubai stated that there was no security threat to passengers.
