The French Navy intercepted the Russian tanker DF Peak, previously named Kaliningrad, in the Indian Ocean. The tanker was reportedly sailing under the flag of Benin and is subject to sanctions from the U.S., EU, Switzerland, Canada, and Japan.

The vessel's false flag registration and sanctions status indicate potential evasion of international maritime regulations and sanctions regimes.
