Gazprom Neft reportedly tests Russia's first electric hydraulic fracturing fleet in Khanty
Gazprom Neft has reportedly successfully tested Russia's first electric hydraulic fracturing fleet in the Khanty-Mansiysk Autonomous Okrug (KhMAO). The system, equipped with electric high-pressure pumps, completed 28 operations, reportedly reducing costs and carbon footprint compared to diesel equipment.
The electric drive allows for smooth pump operation without complex gearboxes, reducing noise and eliminating the costs associated with diesel fuel delivery and storage. According to Ilya Baranov, deputy head of the company's gas and energy department, the use of electricity cuts expenses and effectively utilizes associated petroleum gas at its own power complexes, making the development of hard-to-recover reserves more profitable and environmentally friendly.
