Thursday, October 22, 2026 at 01:00 PM

A 53-year-old Ukrainian national from the Luhansk region, identified as Vadim, has been arrested in Brandenburg, Germany, on suspicion of espionage for Russia, according to Der Spiegel. Prosecutors allege he gathered information for Russian intelligence services regarding the production of armored vehicles, ammunition, and explosives, as well as NATO military sites.

The investigation suggests the man contacted representatives of the European defense industry, including Polish companies, and collected details about the Bundeswehr's 45th tank brigade, which is slated for deployment in Lithuania in 2027. German authorities had previously reported attempts by unknown individuals to contact soldiers of this brigade.
