German Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock urged Russian counterpart Sergey Lavrov to abandon his "dangerous path of escalation" regarding Germany, Europe, and NATO, stating that hybrid attacks would not waver Germany's support for Ukraine. The ministers met in New York for their first discussion since Russia's full-scale invasion in 2022.

The meeting, which lasted about 20 minutes, also addressed a drone incident in Leipzig, for which the German government blames Russia.
