Germany Pledges Over 1 Billion Euros in Military and Energy Aid to Ukraine
Germany is providing Ukraine with over 1 billion euros in military and energy assistance, according to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky. The package includes funding for joint production of anti-drone interceptors, long-range weapons, combat drones, and satellite equipment. An additional 350 million euros will be allocated to energy sector support, including generators, transformer substations, and repair kits.
Merz stated that the new interceptor systems are being launched into serial production, which he believes will quickly and significantly strengthen Ukraine's air defense. Zelensky highlighted the critical need for enhanced air defense, reporting that Russia used 900 "Shahed" drones, along with conventional strike UAVs and ballistic missiles this week. Germany, France, and the UK are planning a "coalition of the willing" meeting in Berlin this winter to coordinate further aid.
