Hackers claimed to have breached the infrastructure of Russia's Central Election Commission (CEC) and its contractor, Rostelecom's subsidiary "Tsifrotekh," days before the elections. The group, known as CikLeak, reportedly obtained internal documents, source code, calls, passwords, and employee correspondence.

The stolen materials were allegedly handed over to journalists from "Vazhnye Istorii," who stated they verified the authenticity of the files. "Tsifrotekh" develops the new election system "Elections" 2.0, launched in early 2026.
