The Israeli Navy is set to receive its sixth submarine, the INS Drakon, after a nearly month-long voyage from Germany. The submarine's delivery was reportedly delayed due to testing restrictions in Danish and Norwegian waters. The INS Drakon, a Dolphin 2-class submarine, is the largest and heaviest in Israel's service.

The submarine's arrival comes as the Navy aims to expand its fleet to counter a maritime arms race and new threats, citing concerns about freedom of navigation in the Mediterranean similar to recent incidents in the Strait of Hormuz and Bab el-Mandeb. The Navy plans to receive five new corvettes in the coming years to replace older missile boats.
