Lebanese security forces seized approximately 500 kilograms of explosives, including 250 kg of TNT and 250 kg of C4, from a vehicle traveling from the Bekaa Valley toward Beirut at the Dahr al-Baidar checkpoint earlier this week. Two Hezbollah operatives were arrested and transferred to the Lebanese Army Military Police for interrogation.

Security sources expressed concern that the explosives might have been intended for a major assassination. Justice Minister Adel Nassar stated the investigation would be pursued to its conclusion, while Judge Claude Ghanem ordered the probe to continue to ascertain if others were involved.
