Thursday, October 8, 2026 at 11:04 AM
Lithuania will propose that the EU ban the transit of Russian grain and impose sanctions on individual Russian oligarchs from the agricultural sector, according to Lithuanian Prime Minister Mindaugas Sinkevičius. Sinkevičius stated that Russia uses European ports for its grain exports while attacking Ukrainian ports and vessels.
Sinkevičius also claimed that Russia sells grain stolen from occupied Ukrainian territories on world markets. He has ordered increased control over grain origins to prevent stolen Ukrainian or mixed Russian grain from being transported through Lithuania.
