Friday, October 23, 2026 at 12:33 PM
All four passenger airports in Moscow—Sheremetyevo, Domodedovo, Vnukovo, and Zhukovsky—suspended operations on October 23 due to a reported drone attack threat. Sheremetyevo airport declared an air alert, instructing passengers to move to safety zones. Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin stated that over 10 drones heading for the capital were shot down.
Residents in western Moscow reported hearing explosions, according to various Telegram channels. This is not the first time Moscow's airports have suspended operations in October due to drone threats, though strikes on the airports themselves have not been reported. Ukrainian forces have not yet commented on the latest incident.
