A mudslide in Nepal has swept away a camp of Russian climbers and over 10 villages in the Manaslu region of the Himalayas. Approximately 100 foreigners, including Russians, managed to descend to safety. These climbers were preparing for the trekking season, which begins in early October. All mountain ascents are currently suspended due to the risk of further mudslides, with 256 recorded since morning.

The mudslide in the Samagaun area has put the trek of a Russian-Japanese group in question, and rescuers are searching for five missing tourists. In the Baglung area, a mudslide destroyed 140 houses and killed 24 people. Over ten villages in the mountains have been completely wiped out, some serving as base camps for climbers. More than 2,000 people have been evacuated from the flooded zone. The Kathmandu airport's runway was flooded, leading to the cancellation of five flights. These disasters are attributed to heavy rainfall in September, causing snowmelt and avalanches in the Himalayas.
