Nine Russian tourists stranded in Nepal mountains after flood destroys roads

Monday, October 12, 2026 at 01:22 PM

Nine Russian tourists are stranded in the mountains of Nepal after a flood destroyed roads and trails, forcing them to ascend higher with no place to sleep. According to Mash, the group hired a local guide for a trek around Mount Manaslu. The tourists, all amateur climbers without insurance, were caught in a landslide caused by the overflowing Budhi-Gandaki river. The group is stuck in the village of Jagat and lacks the funds for a helicopter rescue.

In September, a landslide near Mount Manaslu washed away the camp of Russian climbers. Around the same time, nearly 500 Russian tourists were stranded on Mount Kailash in Tibet due to rockfalls blocking the passes.
