Poland reportedly deports Russians and Belarusians attempting to participate in Karate Wor

Tuesday, October 20, 2026 at 04:02 PM

Poland has reportedly deported 11 Belarusian citizens and four Russian citizens who entered the country on tourist visas with the stated intention of participating in the Youth Karate World Championship in Bielsko-Biała. The deportees were ordered to leave the country within eight days.

The Russian Minister of Sport, Mikhail Degtyarev, stated that the International Olympic Committee (IOC) is assisting Russia, as they have changed competition requirements to demand a written, legally binding document guaranteeing the admission of all athletes from countries bidding to host championships. Degtyarev also claimed that Europeans are creating obstacles, with the European Union denying visas and organizing provocations.
