Russian President Vladimir Putin stated that the liberation of the Donetsk People's Republic (DNR) remains a primary objective for the Russian Armed Forces (VS RF). He also claimed that Russian forces are advancing along the entire front line, with increased tempo, and have completed the destruction of a 2,000-strong group of Ukrainian Armed Forces (VSU) surrounded in the Kharkiv region.

Putin also claimed that the capture of Dobropillya is a significant event opening the way to the DNR, and that Russia needs to improve its air defense capabilities. He further asserted that the VS RF have begun massive strikes on Ukrainian energy infrastructure, as well as hitting nine metallurgy enterprises, 76 logistics centers, and 93 vessels.
