Report: Gadi Eisenkot Criticizes Netanyahu's Handling of Hamas and Calls for State Inquiry

Monday, October 5, 2026 at 02:43 PM

Former Israeli Minister Gadi Eisenkot, speaking at a counter-terrorism conference at Reichman University, reportedly criticized Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's strategy regarding Hamas. Eisenkot stated that Netanyahu's hope is to win in order to bury the truth, recalling Hamas's raids into Israel during Operation Protective Edge and suggesting Netanyahu was aware of Hamas's actions.

Eisenkot also reportedly added that this is part of an attempt to spread a 'betrayal theory' and distance himself from responsibility. He proposed that within two weeks of the next government's formation, a government decision should be made to establish a state commission of inquiry with a single mandate to investigate events from a decade prior, including during his tenure as Chief of Staff.
