Rustam Khalikov, who was convicted in a case related to the organization Hizb ut-Tahrir, has died in a colony in the Penza region. The human rights project Free120 reported that the 49-year-old prisoner died on September 27. The cause of death has not been disclosed.

Khalikov was sentenced to 12 years in prison in 2021 for involvement in the terrorist organization Hizb ut-Tahrir. His mother alleged that religious books were planted on him during a search, and he denied membership. The human rights organization Memorial recognized him as a political prisoner.
