A 34-year-old resident of Ukraine's Chernihiv region has been sentenced in absentia to 15 years in prison for participating in the war on the side of Russia, according to the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU). The individual reportedly joined the Russian army in 2023 after the full-scale invasion and later signed a contract with the Russian Ministry of Defense.

The SBU stated that the man is participating in combat operations against Ukraine, specifically on the Zaporizhzhia front. The court found him guilty of collaboration and ordered the confiscation of his property. The sentence was issued in absentia as the convicted individual is believed to be in Russia.
