Report: Ukrainian soldier Serhiy Horozhankin killed in Kharkiv Oblast airstrike
The Poltava Regional Military Administration, in conjunction with the Memorial Memory Platform, is honoring the memory of fallen defenders from Poltava Oblast. Soldier Serhiy Horozhankin, call sign "Bulka," was killed on March 12, 2022, near the village of Kamianka in Kharkiv Oblast during an airstrike. He was two months shy of his 20th birthday.
Horozhankin was from the village of Runivshchyna in Poltava Oblast. He graduated from a local school and later attended the Professional College of Economics and Law Management of Poltava State Agrarian University and Poltava Interregional Vocational School. He worked at the agricultural enterprise "Alfa-Kapital" and dreamed of becoming a paratrooper. In June 2021, he joined the Armed Forces of Ukraine and by October was in the Joint Forces Operation zone. From the first days of the full-scale invasion, he was on the front lines, fighting as part of the 95th Separate Air Assault Brigade. He drove a "Kozak" vehicle and was awarded the Order "For Courage" III degree. His mother, Hanna Horozhankina, described him as brave, honest, and friendly, always wanting to defend Ukraine. Serhiy was buried in Poltava at the Zaturynske cemetery. He is survived by his mother, father, and younger brother.
