Reuters: Ukraine urges US sanctions on Russian companies developing 'Rassvet' satellite ne

Thursday, October 1, 2026 at 03:14 PM

Reuters reported that Ukraine has called on the United States to impose sanctions against Russian companies involved in the development of the "Rassvet" satellite network, an alternative to Starlink. According to Denys Senik, deputy head of the Ukrainian embassy's mission in Washington, Russia is rapidly expanding the "Rassvet" network, with plans to launch it by 2027. Senik stated that the network could enable real-time targeting of Ukrainian objectives.

Russia has already launched 16 "Rassvet" satellites in March and intends to increase this number to 900 over the next few years. The Starlink satellite network is not officially available in Russia.
