Russia claims readiness to resume trilateral talks with Ukraine and US in November
The Kremlin has stated its readiness to resume trilateral negotiations with Ukraine and the United States in November, according to Reuters, citing the Kremlin. Following a meeting between Putin and US Special Envoy Steve Vlajkoff in St. Petersburg, the Kremlin indicated that the talks could take place in Abu Dhabi no earlier than November 10.
Russian presidential aide Yuri Ushakov stated that new proposals brought by Vlajkoff after talks in Oslo do not fully satisfy Moscow. Vlajkoff had previously met with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, leaders of Norway and Finland, and representatives from Europe and NATO in Oslo. The US official noted that Ukraine presented new ideas concerning security guarantees, a post-war economic plan, and European security architecture. During Vlajkoff's visit, Russia also released 74-year-old American Steven Hubbard, detained since 2022.
