Russia lifts diesel export ban after Putin-Trump deal, US issues license

Saturday, October 10, 2026 at 07:19 PM

The Russian government has partially lifted its ban on diesel exports, allowing 500,000 tons to be sent to the global market. The decision, effective October 10, follows agreements between Vladimir Putin and Donald Trump. Russian oil companies are instructed to immediately begin coordinating shipments with foreign counterparties.

The export ban, initially in place since January 31, 2026, was extended to include producers from July 9. Following the reported deal between Trump and Putin on October 10, the U.S. Treasury Department's Office of Foreign Assets Control issued a temporary general license for Russian diesel shipments previously under sanctions since 2022.
