A Crimean Tatar Resource Center report on September 30 stated that Russia is prosecuting 87 individuals in the case of the 'Noman Chelebidzihan Battalion.' Of these, 16 are identified as prisoners of war from the 48th Assault Battalion of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, sentenced by Russian occupation courts to 14 to 22 years. The number of cases has increased from six before the war.
The Supreme Court of the Russian Federation declared the battalion a 'terrorist organization' on June 1, 2022. Sources from the Crimean Tatar Resource Center indicated that authorities aim to arrest approximately 250 people.
