Russian activist Dmitry Morozov detained in Izhevsk
In Izhevsk, activist Dmitry Morozov, who had been seeking through the courts to hold a rally for fair elections, was detained. Law enforcement officers apprehended Morozov as he was going to the store, according to his father, Valery Tsarenko, who spoke to RusNews. The following day, FSB officers searched Morozov's home, confiscating his computer.
Morozov's father reported that his son sustained scratches on his face and swollen hands, possibly from handcuffs used overnight. The family learned from security forces during the search that Morozov is accused of ties to a banned organization, though the specific group was not identified. Morozov had previously applied to hold a rally against election fraud in Izhevsk, but local authorities denied the request, citing the poor condition of a monument.
