Russian blogger sentenced to two years of forced labor for anti-war recruitment video

Monday, October 12, 2026 at 04:08 PM

A court in Penza, Russia, sentenced blogger Stanislav Morozov to two years of forced labor for inciting extremism due to a video about military recruitment. The video reportedly suggested Russians might resist military enlistment officers, drawing parallels to actions in Ukraine. The FSB deemed this a call to violence against enlistment officers.

Morozov was also fined 80,000 rubles for disrespecting authorities after defacing a ballot with an insult directed at President Putin and crossing out the 'United Russia' party name. He had previously served 14 days of arrest for the same incident under a hooliganism charge.
