The Supreme Court of the Komi Republic has sentenced Russian-Canadian citizen Nikolai Zuyev to seven years in a strict regime colony for state treason. The FSB reported the sentence, stating that Zuyev developed and implemented a project involving the preparation of leaders of national liberation movements of small peoples of the Russian Federation abroad, the dissemination of extremist materials, and the collection and analysis of information for EU state bodies and analytical centers.

According to investigators, Zuyev allegedly received over two million euros for the project from 12 organizations, including the Hanns Seidel Foundation, the Prague Civil Society Development Center, and the German Council on Foreign Relations (DGAP), all of which have been declared undesirable in Russia. The FSB stated that Zuyev fully admitted his guilt and implicated other individuals involved. The trial was held in camera, and no comments from Zuyev or his defense were available.
