A Russian court has fined a Protestant preacher 500,000 rubles and banned him from administering websites for four years for reposting an appeal by Yevgeny Prigozhin and commenting on a post about the arson of a military enlistment office. Eduard Charov was found guilty of repeated "discrediting" of the army and justifying terrorism.

The prosecution had sought a 7.5-year prison sentence. According to investigators, Charov commented on a post about a resident of Polevskoy throwing an incendiary device at the local military enlistment office, and also reposted Prigozhin's appeal prior to the June 2023 mutiny. Charov claims he was merely mocking the arsonist and that his prosecution was an attempt to fulfill a quota for "terrorists."
