Russian court sentences four Ukrainians to life and 25 years for Melitopol explosions
A Russian military court sentenced four Ukrainians to terms ranging from 25 years to life imprisonment for explosions in Melitopol. The Southern District Military Court in Rostov-on-Don sentenced 38-year-old Igor Garanin to life imprisonment. 54-year-old Sergey Garkusha, 58-year-old Sergey Evtushenko, and 46-year-old Elena Roy received 25 years each. "Mediazona" reported the sentences.
All four reported torture during the trial. The FSB claims that in 2022-2023, the defendants, acting on the orders of Ukrainian special services, organized assassination attempts on representatives of the occupation administration and police. Garanin stated he was a Ukrainian soldier sent to Melitopol for reconnaissance and was targeting "legitimate military objectives."
