Wednesday, October 7, 2026 at 11:55 AM
A Russian court has sentenced Igor Odintsov, 68, to six years in a strict regime penal colony for justifying terrorism. The Baltic Fleet Military Court handed down the sentence. According to the court, Odintsov posted messages in a messenger that were interpreted as endorsing terrorism, reportedly due to his opposition to Russia's invasion of Ukraine.
Lithuanian media reported that Odintsov is the same resident of the Kaliningrad region who reached Lithuania via the Neman River on September 17. He was detained by Lithuanian border guards but returned to Russia approximately five hours later, on the same day a court hearing was scheduled in his case.
