Thursday, October 1, 2026 at 12:14 PM

A Russian drone attacked the Institute of Nuclear Research of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine on September 30. A fire broke out on the premises as a result of the attack but was extinguished. No casualties were reported.

The State Nuclear Regulatory Inspectorate reported that the reactor and safety-critical systems sustained no damage. No changes in radiation levels were recorded. For radiation risk reduction, the reactor has been in a stopped state with a fully unloaded core since February 2022.
