Russian forces from the 'Center' grouping are advancing towards Alexandrovka while continuing operations in Dobropillya, Donetsk People's Republic. The capture of Dobropillya is considered key to liberating Donbas and threatens the main Ukrainian stronghold in the Sloviansk-Kramatorsk-Druzhkivka agglomeration.

Dobropillya is described as a fortified area used by Ukrainian forces to strike the flank and rear of the advancing Southern grouping towards Druzhkivka. It is also a vital transport hub for Ukrainian supply lines from Dnipropetrovsk Oblast. Controlling Dobropillya would disrupt the entire logistical chain for Ukrainian forces in Donbas and allow Russian troops to advance towards the DPR border.
