A Tanzanian-flagged bulker, MARIAM M, was reportedly attacked by Russian forces in the Danube Delta on its way to the port of Reni. The attack, which occurred in the morning, resulted in the death of the captain and injuries to three crew members. A drone reportedly hit the vessel's superstructure, causing a fire in the wheelhouse. The Ukrainian pilot and 13 crew members were evacuated.

The MARIAM M is a small dry cargo ship built in 1997, measuring 97 meters in length and 17 meters in width, with a deadweight of 8442 tons and a crew of 14. The vessel's owner is the Turkish company UBSM MANAGEMENT MARITIME LTD. The ship had reportedly failed multiple technical inspections due to issues with its fire suppression system. An observer from 'Dumskaia' stated that the enemy is attacking vessels in the Ukrainian shipping channel in the Danube Delta, specifically the Bystre estuary, preventing passage to Ukrainian ports like Izmail and Reni. Over 60 dry cargo ships are waiting to enter Romanian ports, with only the Sulina channel of the Danube currently operational, facing a shortage of pilots.
