Russian forces reportedly strike Turkish dry cargo ship in neutral waters, one killed, one
A Russian strike reportedly hit a Turkish dry cargo ship in neutral waters, resulting in one death and one person missing. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky stated that citizens of Azerbaijan and India were aboard the vessel. Zelensky reported that the ship's captain was killed, and the fate of another crew member is being determined. Eleven sailors were rescued, with one injured.
Romanian media reported two fatalities: the captain and the ship's cook. According to their reports, the dry cargo ship ROYAD MAMMADOV, flagged under St. Kitts and Nevis, was attacked by drones 20 nautical miles off the coast of Romania and 9 nautical miles from the Pescarus oil platform. Helicopters and coast guard ships were involved in the rescue operation, with three sailors airlifted from the vessel. The ROYAD MAMMADOV, built in 2006, was carrying corn and sank after the strike.
