Russian lawyer Anton Dolgikh faces charges of assaulting prison service employee
A criminal case has been opened against Russian lawyer and blogger Anton Dolgikh for allegedly using violence against a representative of the authorities. His lawyer, Violetta Volkova, stated that investigators claim Dolgikh struck an employee of the Federal Penitentiary Service (FSIN) on the street on the evening of September 17.
Volkova has rejected the allegations. A measure of restraint for the lawyer is to be decided on October 9 or 10, with investigators requesting pre-trial detention. Security forces detained Dolgikh this morning; video shows him being taken down and driven away. Previously, Dolgikh was detained in February 2025 on bribery charges, later receiving a sentence of 1.5 years, but was released due to time served.
