Russia's Ministry of Transport stated that drone boats attacked the Aframax Rio tanker, flying the Liberian flag, in the Black Sea. The head of the ministry, Andrey Nikitin, chaired a meeting to address the attack's aftermath. Preliminary reports from the Ministry of Transport indicate no injuries, and the crew has been rescued.

The crew consisted of 23 Indian nationals, according to Kommersant. Eyewitnesses described flames rapidly engulfing the vessel and spreading across the water's surface, as reported by The Insider. The fire was visible from many points in the city, SOTA noted.
