Russian state news agency RIA Novosti published and later deleted an article that threatened Lithuania with a "short CVO" (a Russian abbreviation for "special military operation") and a nuclear strike. The article, titled "Russia awaits another CVO. It will be very short," discussed scenarios of missile strikes on Lithuanian territory.

The article claimed that Europeans are looking for a country to become a "nuclear storage," noting that Poland does not want to host nuclear weapons. The author, Alexander Nosovich, chief editor of RuBaltic.Ru, suggested that Russia could use only missiles with appropriate warheads, without deploying ground troops, due to the geography of the Baltic region. Investigations by the Dossier Center and Lithuanian LRT suggest Nosovich is influenced by the Russian Presidential Administration and the Foreign Intelligence Service (SVR).
