Russian project trains schoolgirls as 'traditional wives'

Wednesday, October 21, 2026 at 11:27 AM

A project in Russia, supported by the state and initiated by an Orthodox activist from Izhevsk, Olga Novgorodtseva, aims to educate schoolgirls aged 10-16 as 'traditional' wives and mothers. These special classes, which exclude boys and require girls to wear dresses, teach prayer, cooking, and dancing, with students attending church and learning Orthodox songs. The media outlet 'Verstka' reported that hundreds of girls are currently enrolled.

During a video recording near a cathedral in Izhevsk, two girls fainted due to heat and their attire, with several others nearly losing consciousness. Teachers reportedly insisted the girls finish singing a song before halting the filming. 'Verstka' indicated the project may be scaled up.
